Fifteen years ago, when I began my journey into photography, my tool of choice was a humble, entry-level Canon EOS 1100D. That camera stood beside me at numerous concerts and location model shoots all over the UK, ultimately taking the shots that got me published in fashion magazines across the UK, Europe, and the US.
Eventually, I felt the time had come to give my trusted companion a well-earned retirement and step up to a more professional system. Following the advice of a very good friend—who is both a model and a photographer—I invested in a Canon EOS 5D Mark III.
I’ve had the camera for about a month now, spending time learning its various settings and putting it to work on a few recent model shoots. The difference was immediate—the image quality, the low-light handling, and the build are incredible. I am absolutely thrilled with the purchase, and I look forward to many years ahead with this camera and the countless concerts and model shoots to come.
Here are a few images from a recent shoot with Katy Brankin (https://www.instagram.com/katex_model/) , showcasing what this new system can do.
Testing the camera in these settings really proved how much of a leap forward this upgrade is. I’m incredibly excited to see where this new chapter takes my work.
